Host Family
Host Family offers families or individuals the opportunity to share their home with an adult with a developmental disability. Host Family providers welcome people as part of their family, providing a safe and secure place to live, opportunities for inclusion, and enhanced quality of life.
The selection of a Host Family Provider is a mutual process aimed at determining the best fit. A “pre-placement” process occurs in which the person and the host family become familiar with each other. Upon placement, ongoing contact, home visits, case management, and supervision are provided through Ongwanada’s Host Family Program. The person’s natural family and supports are encouraged to participate in the placement process and maintain active involvement in a person’s life.
We are looking for families interested in welcoming an adult into their home as part of their family. Approved and matched Host Family Providers will receive a monthly payment, support, relief, and individualized training. Experience in developmental services is an asset but not required
