POSITION:
Supervises the operations of Finance Department ensuring that all processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner. Operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks for improvements in operational processes and designs and implements those initiatives. Conducts work planning, estimation and prioritization to optimize the performance of the department. Ensures all financial data is maintained and reported in accordance with governing legislation, appropriate policies and procedures, collective agreements and memoranda of understanding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees/prepares monthly financial statements, reports and variance analyses appropriate for the intended user and in accordance with accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations;
- Collects, interprets and reviews all financial information, working closely with management team;
- Ensures proper audit trails and actively participates in the annual audit process;
- Develops, reviews and monitors departmental budgets;
- Ensures conduct of annual analysis and reconciliation of payroll tax, CPP, EI, HOOPP, WSIB, and EHT and annual preparation of T4 and T4A forms and summaries for CRA;
- Oversees Passport program;
- Responsible for the purchase of equipment, systems and supplies for the department;
- Contributes to/develops finance policies and procedures;
- Monitor payroll compliance with government regulations; collective agreements and Ongwanada policies;
- Maintains a current knowledge regarding the operation, maintenance and procedures of the all finance and finance-related systems;
- In the absence of the CFAO co-ordinate the functions of the Financial Services department;
- Fulfill Administrator-On-Call coverage as scheduled

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Post-secondary degree in business/commerce finance, accounting or equivalent
- CPA designation preferred, or equivalent
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in non-profit finances and accounting
- Previous supervisory/management experience an asset
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to develop effective relationships across the organization as well as outside agencies are required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with financial accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy and must be able to meet deadlines.
