POSITION: To provide Psychological Services to individuals (children, adolescents, adults and/or seniors) with developmental disabilities who are supported by Ongwanada/affiliated with service providers in the South East Ontario Region.
DUTIES:
- Conducting psychological assessment;
- Conducting psychological interventions;
- Utilizing behavioural, counseling or related techniques to ameliorate interfering behaviours and to promote appropriate behaviours in clients;
- Providing consultation and monitoring of Behaviour Support Plans;
- Planning and conducting research and program evaluation projects
- Conveying to Ongwanada staff, service providers within the East Region and/or other relevant persons, knowledge and understanding of psychological principles and best practice applications;
- Participating on Task Forces/Committees as required.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Current registration as a Psychologist in the province of Ontario and successful completion of a Ph.D. in Psychology or a Psy.D., preferably at a Canadian university;
- Clinical Psychologist must be registered with the ability to provide services for children (age 12 and under) OR adults & seniors (65+);
- Knowledge of current legislation and Standards of Practice;
- Experience in providing psychological services to persons with developmental disabilities (including those people with dual diagnosis/challenging/complex behaviour), their families and care providers is an asset;
- Experience in supervision of both students and non-registered staff is preferred;
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision;
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- Sound judgment, counseling, supervisory, teaching and organization skills;
- Comfortable in learning new technologies with mastery of existing technologies;
- Willingness to apply for appointment as a Clinical Supervisor in the Department of Psychology, Queen’s University;
- Must successfully complete and maintain certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention as per Ongwanada policies;
- Must possess a valid G Driving License with full driving privileges, insurances and have access to own vehicle;

Position: Temporary Full Time Transitional Aged Youth Services Worker - Multiple Positions
Location: Cassidy Transition Aged Youth Home
Date of Vacancy: Up to One Year
Hours of Work: 80 hours per pay minimum guarantee
Wage: Hourly: Start - $30.80 6 Months - $31.36 One Year - $31.80
POSITION: To provide short-term transitional community living support to transitional age youth as part of an interagency/community based team for individuals with a developmental disability/mental health diagnosis. Working as a primary transition aged youth services worker for specific persons served. Provide short-term transitional emergency bed residential support for up to two individuals at one time.
DUTIES:
- Teaching and supporting individualized life skills development including self-care, grocery shopping, daily living tasks, communications, budgeting, community living, job coaching, socialization/living with others and accessing community services, guided by evidence based assessment and youth needs;
- Developing goals with the youth supported through weekly independent living skills activities aligned with youth’s identified discharge goals;
- Developing, implementing and evaluating teaching/training opportunities to enhance youth skill development;
- Completing ongoing data collection, recording and analysis as it relates to such factors as, skill acquisition, required medical supports, behaviour etc;
- Monitoring changes in a person served conditions, taking appropriate action and engaging the Supervisor-Clinical Homes and/or appropriate professional i.e. nurse, physician, psychiatrist, psychologist as required;
- Transcribing physicians’ orders and monitoring, preparing and administering medication as prescribed;
- Encouraging choice and supporting persons served to be active in their community in an inclusive, nurturing and healthy lifestyle manner;
- Participation in regular multi-agency meetings to plan and review the progress of each person served based on observable and measurable outcomes;
- Performs organizational and administrative duties and other general duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Graduate of a Youth Worker, Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Behavioural Science Technologist (B.S.T) or B.A. Psychology or a Registered Nurse (R.N) or another acceptable post-secondary program;
- Incumbent must have successfully completed/maintain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, and any other course deemed appropriate by Ongwanada;
- Current CPR/First Aid certification;
- Incumbent must have successfully completed a Pharmacology course deemed acceptable to Ongwanada and maintain medication training in keeping with Ongwanada policies;
- Valid G Driving License with full driving privileges;
- Experience working with dual diagnosis individuals as well youth is an asset;
- Experience working in an environment which supports a bio-psycho-social approach, and harm-reduction, would be an asset.
