A new antiracism campaign in Kingston, spearheaded by the Anti-Racism Working Group (ARTF), aims to raise awareness about racism and provide tools to support victims and educate bystanders. Co-chaired by Aba Mortley, Bhavana Varma, and Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson, the initiative responds to a rise in racist incidents, partly due to increased migration and international students. The campaign includes stickers and videos designed by BmDodo Strategic Design, illustrating real experiences of racism collected from a community survey. Findings show significant rates of both personal and witnessed racist incidents in Kingston. The campaign will feature prominently on Kingston Transit buses, city posters, and social media. The goal is to foster a sense of belonging and enhance the community’s collective wellbeing.
