Dear Ongwanada families:
As you will no doubt be aware, the rate at which COVID-19 is currently spreading within Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox, and Addington has increased significantly over the past short while. Presently, active cases in KFL&A exceed 600 and the infection rate has been 242.3 cases per 100,000 for the last seven days.
Ongwanada has been affected by this most recent surge in cases and we are currently dealing with some asymptomatic COVID-19 cases in our community residences. The families of any supported individual affected have been contacted directly. We are continuing to actively implement various measures to reduce the risk of spread within the organization and the community.
For the time being, we continue to restrict community outings (movies, restaurants etc.) for individuals not currently living in homes with active COVID -19 cases but will continue with outdoor activities where we can, when weather permits. In addition, in compliance with advice from the Kingston, Frontenac Lennox and Addington Public Health Unit to limit social gatherings and visits to others, we strongly encourage families to refrain from visiting their loved ones or taking them home for a visit if possible during this time.
Please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.
Yours sincerely,
Alastair Lamb
CEO
